Main job role is reporting to the Director of Community Development and be responsible for the following duties:
Business and Market Development
Seek out and discover market opportunities in the San Francisco Bay area as well as Silicon Valley to drive sales of
SoftLayer products and services.
SoftLayer Customer Community
Interfacing with prospective clients/current customers to ensure they are having a superior experience, listening to their
concerns and helping tell their stories via various formats.
Startup Community
Represent SoftLayer in Bay Area and West Coast startup community activities; including building and maintaining
relationships with technology incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces, and start up founders and technology leaders.
Build brand as the “go-to” resource for Infrastructure by building SoftLayer’s brand identification throughout the startup
communities.
Venture Capital and Investor Community
Regularly meet with Bay Area and Silicon Valley seed, angel and venture capital investors and investor groups to
articulate the value of SoftLayer’s Infrastructure as a Service Platform.
Open Source and Developer Community
Act as SoftLayer Open Source Evangelist though regular involvement in West Coast Open Source and Developer
communities.
Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) Evangelism
Present SoftLayer Cloud value proposition to Bay Area companies, press and analysts through face-to-face meetings,
meet ups, tweet ups, conferences and other area events
Operational “Boots on the Ground” in the San Francisco Bay Area
Meet regularly with Bay Area and Silicon Valley prospect companies, influential bloggers, and others and act as the area
“go to” for all things SoftLayer.
